My Story of Sadness and Hope!

Hello All! Let me tell you about my horrible past, where I am now, and what I hope will be my promising future!

The number thirteen isn't really considered an omen of good fortune for some, but for me, I'll always consider it to be lucky!

Back on 13 April of 2003, I was rescued from the most dreadful of conditions inside a slaughterhouse located someplace in Central New Jersey. I don't even remember how I even came to live in such horrible conditions! All I know is that I through some ugly twist of fate, I came to that place.

It was just awful and it was no life for me, It was simply existing. I had no clean water to drink, my food was simply moldy bread, if I was lucky enough to have that! No one cared enough about me to make sure my small  cage was clean. I lived in such unsanitary conditions! There was no one to make sure that I was feeling ok and that my medical needs were attended to. And as you can see, due to the conditions I was kept in, I needed a LOT of medical treatment. But no one wanted to help me out at all.

There was no one that really gave me a second thought. I was just a commodity. One kind word or an affectionate scratch on the head would mean more to me than anything in the whole world.  It didn't matter to anyone there if I even lived or died. All I did was wait in quiet desperation, until that moment arrived when I was to be carried off and killed.

All of that suddenly changed that Sunday afternoon, when I was whisked away from all of this misery by a caring woman who leads Kind Heart Rabbit Rescue. My overall medical condition was evaluated and my initial needs were determined. Then I received  my first really good meal in a VERY long time! I began to come to the conclusion that I was now in a far better place than I was before and that perhaps all humans were not as bad as the previous ones I have encountered.

After a while I began to heal, and as you can see my coat is back, better than ever! My personality is coming around too and  once again I'm a very friendly little bunny,  looking for scratches on my head from my foster mom, and of course begging for treats!

I am scheduled to be spayed very soon. After I am healed, I will be put up for adoption, and ready to got home to a loving family!

As of 2 June, 2003, I am up on Petfinder.com! Come visit my page there, especially if you are interested in giving me a new loving home! (Only contact my foster mom if you plan on me becoming a house rabbit and keeping me indoors with you!)

I just can't wait until the day I become a house rabbit arrives! Until then, I'll be content to be in the care of Kind Heart Rescue and will be thankful to my foster mom for pulling me out of that horrible place, taking great care of me at treating me with kindness! Also thankful to my sponsor family at The Rabbit Hutch web site for helping my foster mom take care of me.

UPDATE: On Tuesday 10 June, I am scheduled to go into the vet's office to be spayed. This is a good thing because not only will it help me health-wise, it will also enhance my ability to be adopted out to a loving home! Also, since my being posted on Petfinder.com, my foster mom says she is already receiving inquiries about me!

UPDATE#2: Well, the spay went on as scheduled and I came through the procedure with flying colors! I wasn't too happy with my foster mom however for a while but after a few days my unhappiness passed and I was back to my normal self. I'm still looing for a great permanent home, so if you are interested, please email my foster mom at K911Rescue@aol.com Thanks!

UPDATE # 3: May 7, 2004: I've  seem to have some chronic residual effects from the hard life I  had before coming to live with my foster mom. I do  sneeze sometimes. My foster mom had been giving me medication a few times, and has spoken to  my vet about this issue that has cropped up. My vet seems to feel some of we  "slaughterhouse bunnies" who have been so ill, may have this type of thing on and off. Too many antibiotics however aren't good so my foster mom has been just letting me  "build up my  resistance" and I am getting stronger! However, there is the occasional sneeze that worries my foster mom.

My foster mom  does have a few other "slaughterhouse bunnies" and  they did just fine - even with the sneezing, and other's where it became a problem.  I really need a home where my new family will keep a close eye on my sneezing. Yes, I am considered a "special need bunny"  but I'll return to you 110% of my love and affection!

Keep visiting this page for updates on how I am doing!
